Rachel N. Coffman
Rachel is the President of TSG where she has led the firm’s communications, legislative and public affairs services for over a decade. She first joined TSG in 2010, but left in 2013 to become the Appalachian regional program manager for Dollar Energy Fund. She returned to TSG in 2014 to accept her partnership position and the role of Vice President. In 2021, Rachel assumed the role of President. Tom Susman, founder of TSG, transitioned to the role of chairman in early 2021.
She serves TSG’s clients using her several years of political knowledge by focusing on policy development, issue management and lobbying in state/local legislative and public affairs needs. Rachel specializes in manufacturing, economic development, technology, regulatory, taxation, healthcare and other legislative areas.
Currently, she is the Co-Chair for the West Virginia Manufacturers Association Governmental Affairs Committee, a member of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s Governmental Affairs and Environmental Committees, and member of the YWCA of Charleston Public Policy Committee. In 2018, WV Executive Magazine honored her with the Class of 2018 Young Gun Award for business leaders in the state under 43.
Her governmental affairs experience is coupled with a strong communications background in public relations. Currently, she is the President of the Board for the Public Relations Society of America West Virginia Chapter.
Rachel is a native of Kanawha County. She earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Charleston. Previously, she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in public relations from Marshall University. In 2019, she continued her academic learning earning a graduate certificate from the London School of Economics in Business, International Relations, and the Political Economy.
In 2013, Rachel graduated from Leadership West Virginia and 2015 graduated from the Leadership Kanawha Valley Program. In 2012, she received the Young Professional of the Year Award from the West Virginia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. She has won several PRSA-WV Crystal Awards for design work and execution on campaigns both in strategic communications and public affairs.
She serves on boards of directors for PRSA-West Virginia, Opportunity West Virginia, Greater Sissonville Development Council, and Friends of the Clay Center for the Arts & Sciences. She serves on the University of Charleston Business Advisory Committee and is a committee member for FeastivALL, a fundraiser for FestivALL: Art Festival .
An avid traveler, she regularly contributes travel features for West Virginia Executive Magazine. Rachel summited Mount Kilimanjaro in 2015.
