Randy Coleman

Vice President / Public Relations

Randy Coleman has more than two decades of experience either managing public relations campaigns for or writing about significant people and events.

Coleman works with national and regional clients at TSG and directs the company’s sports marketing efforts. He came to TSG after working in a similar capacity for two years as vice president of public relations at Charles Ryan Associates, a regional integrated marketing firm.

Before he joined the private sector, Coleman served two West Virginia governors as deputy cabinet secretary and communications director of the West Virginia Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety (DMAPS), where he directed public and internal communications, established the Department’s public messages and conducted media training. DMAPS is/the oversight agency for 11 state divisions, including the West Virginia State Police, National Guard, Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Fire Marshal and Division of Corrections.

Prior to his state agency work, Coleman spent almost 15 years as a writer and editor for The Associated Press and for daily newspapers in Anderson and Greenville, South Carolina, and Augusta, Georgia. He has covered politics and government, education, religion and sports. He also wrote opinion columns. In Augusta, Coleman served as sports editor and led the newspaper’s coverage of The Masters golf tournament. At the AP, he wrote about politics and government, serving as wire service's statehouse correspondent in West Virginia.
